The Last Minute Exam Checklist
Are you taking ABEM’s new certifying exam soon? Read more to find out how to optimize the days leading up to exam day.
Days before your exam, you should already have your travel and lodging booked. Arrive to Raleigh-Durham International Airport the day before your scheduled exam and stay at the the Hyatt House Raleigh North Hills Hotel, which is where on-site registration for the exam occurs. Arrive at 7 am EST for on-site registration if your exam is in the morning or 12 pm EST if your exam is in the afternoon.

If you are not staying at the hotel, you may store items at the hotel or at the AIME center. Do not bring anything that you do not need.
Your proctor will walk you from the hotel to the AIME Center, which is the testing site. Wear shoes appropriate for a short walk and possibly in the rain. Pack an umbrella. Wear clothing that adheres to the exam dress code: business casual or scrubs. Clothing may not have any school or residency program logos, or you will be asked to conceal the logos with tape.
A wellness room is available for use at the AIME center which includes a refrigerator for any medically necessary items such as medications or breast milk. Use of this refrigerator must be pre-approved. Requests for pre-approval may be sent to certifyingexam@abem.org.
Prohibited items, such as watches, cell phones, beepers or pagers, cameras, digital recorders or players, notes or reference materials, pens or pencils may be stored in a provided green bag and kept in your locker. You may also keep snacks and drinks in your locker. During exam breaks, you may access your snacks and drinks. However, you may not access any items in the green bag at any time during the exam.
You may not discuss any components of the exam with anyone during or after your exam.
